Welcome to the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center Emergency Medicine Residency Program located in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Our residency was established in 1992 and is fully accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education.
Our program follows a PGY 1,2,3 format and accepts fifteen (15) residents per year, with a total resident compliment of fourty-five (45).
Our program's goals are:
- To train residents to become highly competent emergency medicine physicians who excel in any emergency setting.
- To teach residents the fundamentals of research methodology, medical writing and critical appraisal.
- To provide residents with pre-hospital care experience.
- To enable residents to successfully complete the requirements of the American Board of Emergency Medicine for specialty certification.
All rotations are conducted in the Baton Rouge area. The combination of training at both a public and private medical center provides our residents with a vast and varied patient pathology. After the completion of our residency, our graduates are qualified and prepared to work in any emergency department setting that they choose.
